Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) is considered one of the greatest English-language writers of the 20th century and a pioneer of modernist literature. Her non-linear approach to storytelling had a significant impact on the genre. Seventy-five years after her death, her work continues to resonate. While she is best known for her novels, particularly Mrs Dalloway (1925) and To the Lighthouse (1927), Woolf also wrote pioneering essays on art theory, literary history, women and literature, and the politics of power. In her essay A Room of One's Own (1929), Woolf argued that the disappearance of women from history was not due to a lack of intellect or talent, but to poverty.

This bookend was designed by Jan Landqvist, a prominent Swedish industrial designer. It is cut and bent from 100% recycled steel, and finished with a durable black powder coating.
