In his will, Kafka instructed his executor and friend Max Brod to destroy his unfinished works, including the novels The Trial, The Castle, and Amerika. Brod, however, disregarded Kafka's instructions and published his works. These works influenced many writers, critics, artists, and philosophers in the 20th and 21st centuries.
