Today, he is perhaps best known for his novel, “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” which tells the story of a young man who sells his soul to the devil to attain eternal youth. When it was first published in 1890, it was considered immoral and met with harsh criticism. Years later, however, the novel would gain appreciation for its critique of a society filled with vanity and superficiality. During his lifetime, Wilde was most famous as a playwright, and in the 1880s, he was one of the most successful playwrights in late Victorian London. However, in 1895, he was convicted of gross indecency with men and sentenced to two years in prison, which led to his plays being pulled from production and his novel becoming unacceptable. He died poor and alone at the Hôtel d'Alsace in Paris, a few years after his release from prison.

These bookends are by the renowned Swedish industrial designer, Jan Landqvist. They are cut and bent from 100% recycled steel and finished with a durable black powder coating.
Dimensions: Vertical – 15 x 15 cm; Base – 10 x 15 cm

https://eyeballslimbs.com/en/products/%e3%83%96%e3%83%83%e3%82%af%e3%82%a8%e3%83%b3%e3%83%89-%e3%82%aa%e3%82%b9%e3%82%ab%e3%83%bc-%e3%83%af%e3%82%a4%e3%83%ab%e3%83%89
